With heavy hearts but with deep gratitude to God, the Women in Prison Support Initiative (WIPSI) announces the passing of our esteemed Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Hon. Justice E. A. Ojuolape (RTD) who transitioned peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
Justice Ojuolape was more than a leader; he was a beacon of compassion and wisdom whose life inspired countless individuals. His remarkable ability to bring joy to all who met him reflected the depths of his humanity. As a jurist, he upheld justice with integrity and fairness, and as a mentor, he guided with profound insight.
When WIPSI’s vision of improving access to justice and rehabilitating incarcerated women was presented to him, he needed little persuasion. He saw the merit in the mission and committed himself wholeheartedly to it. Justice Ojuolape’s influence shaped the very core of WIPSI’s work, embedding values of fairness, empathy, and transformative impact into every initiative.
Though we are deeply saddened by this loss, we choose to celebrate a life well-lived. Justice Ojuolape left an indelible mark on the world. Through his leadership, WIPSI expanded its reach, impacting countless lives and offering hope to women who had lost theirs. His legacy lives on in the people he mentored, the communities he served, and the organization he helped strengthen.
As we reflect on his passing, let us remember the joy, wisdom, and kindness he radiated. Let us honor him by continuing the work he believed in—empowering women, transforming lives, and building a society rooted in justice and compassion.
Rest in peace, Justice Ojuolape. You will be greatly missed, but your legacy will forever guide WIPSI’s mission.
